NOMEDA was born from the passion of a winemaker-biologist who chose the Upper Douro to create wines of distinction, uniting tradition, sustainability, and a true sense of place.
Quinta de Vale Pereiro is located in Vale Pereiro, an almost deserted village in Longroiva, Mêda, framed by schist valleys and granite hills. Here, in the heart of this unique landscape, lies the home of NOMEDA.
NOMEDA wines are produced in limited editions, single-varietal, and crafted with minimal intervention. Boutique expressions of terroir, shaped by sustainable principles, from vineyard to bottle.
The dry climate, high altitude, and limited rainfall of the Upper Douro create a distinctive terroir, where the low incidence of pests and diseases allows for regenerative viticulture guided by agroecological principles.
We are committed to regenerating the landscape through agricultural practices that protect the soil, enhance biodiversity, and restore ecosystems.
Touriga Nacional vineyard of Dona Hortência. A small local grower who provides us with exceptional grapes for our Red Reserve.
A Rabigato cluster from the small showcase vineyard we are restoring at Quinta de Vale Pereiro through regenerative practices. Known as the queen white grape of the Upper Douro, Rabigato is perfectly adapted to the region’s conditions, yielding distinctive wines with floral aromas, mineral notes, and vibrant acidity.
Racking and pressing our 2023 Touriga Nacional. We are committed to blending tradition and innovation to craft wines of the highest quality.
Careful ripeness monitoring ensures grapes are harvested at their peak, with a perfect balance of sugars, acids, and phenolic compounds, naturally supporting our philosophy of minimal cellar intervention.
The secret of our wines lies in the exceptional grapes sourced from the Mêda region, where vineyards rooted in schist with veins of granite thrive under a dry climate with scarce rainfall. Planted at altitudes between 350 and 700 metres, they benefit from ideal conditions that shape a unique terroir, perfectly suited to producing wines of superior quality. The Mêda region carries its own distinctive personality, a truly unique place within the Upper Douro.
We source grapes from small local growers, nurturing close relationships and offering fair prices, thereby fostering an ethical supply chain that supports the local economy and preserves regional traditions.
Our skin-contact white wine is produced in small batches with minimal intervention. It reveals the full expression of the terroir, with a balanced structure and delicate tannins.
At Quinta de Vale Pereiro, we are revitalising an abandoned vineyard into a living platform for regenerative viticulture, using biological control, cover crops, no tillage, and entirely chemical-free practices.
Rabigato vineyard of Sr. Amílcar. Exceptional grapes for our White Reserve, with perfect acidity, vibrant minerality, and the dedication of an experienced grower.
Our first wine was the 2023 White Reserve, made from Rabigato grapes grown at 500 metres of altitude. Silky minerality, fresh fruit, and delicate notes of orange blossom. Only 2,300 bottles were produced. An elegant and complex wine.
At Quinta de Vale Pereiro, alongside the vineyard, we also cultivate olive groves and almond orchards. All crops are managed under regenerative farming principles, promoting soil health and reinforcing the ecological balance of the estate.
